Important note!
“Recently, Botox and filler injections are applied by unauthorized persons or physicians in some aesthetic and beauty centers or clinics. If these applications are not performed by relevant specialists, serious side effects such as tissue destruction (necrosis) and the risk of transmission of dangerous infections may occur instead of aesthetic results. In addition, in the mentioned centers, sometimes non-original pirated or counterfeit products are applied under the name of Botox or approved fillers, and the procedures result in victimization of the patient.
It is recommended that you request the information and prospectus of the product you will have before the application from your doctor and check whether it is original. We remind you that your procedures can only be done by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon in a safe, legal and scientific way!
Botox (Botox)
Botox (botox), defined by the name “botulinum toxin”, is a substance obtained from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This substance is marketed under 2 different names as approved: Dysport (England) and Botox (Ireland).
Although Botox is used in many fields of medicine such as eye and neurological diseases, it is applied in the field of aesthetics to reduce the movements of facial mimic muscles and therefore the lines that occur due to mimics. As a result of the long-term work of the mimic muscles, the lines are most commonly seen on the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes and around the mouth.
Botox is especially preferred for removing wrinkles in the upper half of the face (forehead lines, lines between eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes).
The application is made in the form of injections. It is not usually a painful procedure. Since the entire treatment takes about 10-15 minutes, it is possible to return to normal life immediately. The effect of Botox appears within 8 days after the injection and active wrinkles begin to decrease. The reduction of very deep wrinkles requires more time. Sometimes Botox and fillers are used in combination to remove deep wrinkles.
The duration of effect of Botox is 4-6 months. When Botox loses its effect, the application can be repeated optionally. Botox does not have any serious side effects if it is done by a specialist. Sometimes slight pain may occur during applications. After the injection, temporary headache, swelling, bruising and rarely temporary drooping of the eyebrows and eyelids may occur. Since it is not yet known whether Botox has any harmful effects during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is recommended not to apply during these periods.
Side effects
“Botox can also be applied to the underarms, palms and soles to reduce excessive sweating. Botox is applied to people with excessive sweating and related odor complaints and relieves the complaints.
Fillers
Fillers are used to eliminate facial wrinkles and tissue loss or deficiencies. Fillers give very good results, especially for the lines formed between the lips, nose and cheeks, smoothing the contour around the lip and lip plumper, and a younger appearance can be obtained. The application is made in a short time like 10-15 minutes and the effect is immediately visible.
Fillers are divided into 3 groups according to their permanence:
1.Temporary fillers (5-12 months): they contain collagen or hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Teosyal, Rofilan, Puragen, Hylaform, Juvederm, Varioderm etc.).
2. Semi-permanent (1-2 years): they contain calcium hydroxylapatite or dextran (Radiesse and Reviderm).
3. Permanent (2-10 years): contain silicone, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or polyacrylamide gel (PAAG) (Artecoll, Aquamid, Beautical 2 and 5).
In first-time applications, short-term fillings are generally preferred in terms of patient satisfaction, observing the reactions of the filling and correct evaluation of the physician.
Fillers are preferred especially for filling wrinkles and tissue deficiencies in the lower half of the face, such as lip and cheek plumping, removal of lines on the nose edge and clarification of cheekbones.
