Skin aging and solutions

SKIN AGING AND SOLUTION RECOMMENDATIONS

Aging is a process that occurs in all organs, but is most noticeable in the skin. Although genetic predisposition is an important factor in skin aging, exposure to the sun, excessive exposure to physical and chemical events (make-up, occupational chemicals…), smoking, excessive alcohol use, dietary habits are the main factors that accelerate skin aging. The skin constantly renews itself and repairs the effects of aging. After a certain age, the repair process in cells slows down. Collagen production of the skin decreases, and with the loss of elastic fibers in the connective tissue that forms the support layer of the skin, signs of aging such as skin loosening, wrinkles, sunspots, and gradual thinning of the skin appear.

Maintaining or regaining a youthful appearance has become an important concern for many people today. The most basic approach in the fight against skin aging due to time and external factors is to clean, moisturize and consciously protect your skin from the sun with products suitable for your skin type. Today, there are many treatment approaches to combat the signs of skin aging. The main ones of these methods are botulinum toxin injection, dermal fillers, chemical peeling, microneedling, PRP, mesolifting, laser, radiofrequency and ultrasound energy and skin rejuvenation processes. These methods can be applied alone or in combination. Your doctor should decide which method to apply according to your expectation and skin structure.

BOTILINUM TOXIN INJECTION

Botulinum toxin injection has been used safely for many years, especially in neurological diseases. It has been used in cosmetic applications since 2002. Botulinum toxin injection is one of the most popular methods today, especially in the fight against dynamic wrinkles on the face. The rate of side effects is very low when the application is made in a short time and applied in expert hands. Contrary to what is known, there is no lower age limit in the treatment of wrinkles with botulinum toxin. It can also be applied to prevent mimic wrinkles without sitting. Although the permanence of the application varies according to the person, it is between 3-6 months.

DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers are used to correct wrinkles and folds, flatten scars, determine bumpy and loose lines, and give the skin a renewed appearance. It plumps the skin, keeps it looking smooth and moisturized. Different fillers are used for the problem. These substances can be permanent or temporary. There are types of fillers containing hyaluronic acid, which are temporary materials, that can last between 6 months and 18 months.
Permanent substances are substances with different contents that last a lifetime when applied. These are synthetic, silicone-based substances, and their use has been limited in recent years due to the risk of permanent substances causing foreign body reaction.

CHEMICAL PEELING

Chemical peeling is an application method that aims to create controlled damage to the skin at various depths by applying one or more chemical agents to the skin and to reveal a renewed healthy skin during the healing process. It is classified as superficial, medium and deep according to the penetration depth of the peeling solution into the skin.

The depth of chemical peeling is determined according to the purpose of application, skin color and skin type. Superficial peelings are used to renew the upper skin layer and to remove the upper skin origin stains. Fruit acids (Alpha hydroxy acid-AHA, Beta hydroxy acid-BHA) are frequently used. Medium-depth peels affect the upper skin layer and the middle skin layer. It is used for the removal of mild to moderate wrinkles, the treatment of stains that go down to the middle layer of the skin and the tightening of the pores. The most commonly used chemical agents are Jessner’s solution, glycolic acid and 35% trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Deep chemical peels penetrate the entire middle skin layer. TCA 50%, Bakers , Phenol and Jessner’s solution are used. It is preferred for the removal of deep wrinkles and the treatment of deep acne scars. Deep chemical peeling methods are not preferred for people with dark skin structure. In recent years, chemical peels have been produced using nano technology. Peelings produced with nano technology have high efficiency and very few side effects.

PRP (PLATALET RICH PLASMA)

Platelet Rich Plasma (plasma enriched from platelets), in short, PRP is the name given to the application. It is the process of separating a small amount of blood taken from a person into its components by undergoing a special process and giving back the obtained small amount of platelet-enriched plasma to the same person for skin rejuvenation. PRP application is also used in the treatment of scars, wrinkles, spots and hair loss. The results of the procedure, which will be applied using your own blood, are very effective. When the platelets, which are intensely contained in the plasma, are given to the skin, the growth factors in their body stimulate the production of collagen and the formation of new capillaries, which allows the skin to renew itself rapidly.

MESOLIFTING

Creams and solutions that we apply externally to the skin nourish and revitalize the upper part of the skin, and do not reach the lower layer of the skin. But the main part of the skin that needs to be revived is the lower skin. Mesolifting is an effective treatment method based on injecting mixtures such as vitamins, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid into the middle layer of the skin. The procedure with micro injectors is painless and painless or at a tolerable level. After the treatment, the patient can continue his daily life. The applied substances increase the skin’s collagen and elastin production and provide skin regeneration. The skin takes on a brighter appearance. The elasticity of the skin increases and sagging decreases. It is an effective method to remove the sagging and aging effects on the face, neck, décolleté and hands.

MICRONEEDING THERAPY

Microneedling therapy is also known by various names such as “mesoroller, dermaroller-dermapen or collagen induction therapy”. Microneedling opens micro channels (micro wounds) in the dermis in the second lower layer of the skin, and tiny needle-tip bleeding occurs on the skin thanks to needling. It is expected that there will be improvement in its surface, texture and color. The process heals in 1-3 days without leaving a trace.

The microneedling method is used to open fine lines on the skin, tighten the pores, and reduce scars (acne scars, striae, burn scars, etc.) on the skin. It also increases the absorption of topical cosmetics and/or growth factors, peptides and stem cells applied to the skin.

SKIN REJUVENATION WITH RADIOFREQUENCY AND ULTRASOUND ENERGY

It is a non-invasive treatment system developed for reducing unwanted fat deposits, skin tightening and wrinkle removal by using focused radiofrequency and intense ultrasound energy at the same time or with separate energies.

Its effect on wrinkle reduction and skin rejuvenation is aimed at collagen tissue (subcutaneous connective tissue). With the collagen filling technology, the structure of the damaged collagen helix is affected by the heat energy and the dissolution process begins. With the natural healing process, cells are stimulated to produce new collagen bonds. The skin is filled with new collagen again. The treatment is applied 1 session per week and a total of 4 sessions are recommended. There are also focused ultrasound systems applied in a single session.

SKIN REJUVENATION LASERS

It is a treatment method based on increasing the collagen production in the scanned area as a result of the complete scanning of the skin with laser beams. Collagen production provides the formation of new connective tissue along with it. This gives the skin a taut, lively appearance.

Ablative co2 lasers were first used in skin rejuvenation with the laser system. As a result of rapid evaporation of the tissues with ablative laser systems, the tissue becomes tighter and smoother. On the other hand, the rate of side effects and the long stay from work reduced the use of these methods in skin rejuvenation. Then, skin rejuvenation methods with nonablative lasers gained popularity. In the last 10 years, the concept of fractional skin resurfacing has come into use. The term fractional means treating a part or part of the skin. It is aimed to accelerate healing by leaving intact skin areas in the area to be treated. Your doctor will decide which laser system and which method will be used according to the skin structure and treatment expectation.
