Botulinum toxin application, which we call botox application in practice, which is the most frequently applied cosmetic application in recent years, is a very safe application in competent hands. However; Although rare, some side effects can be seen even in very experienced hands. Since the person making the application should be conscious, we wanted to include it here. Side effects that can be grouped into two groups as rare and common are as follows.
1- Side effects, which are rare and relatively more serious, are generally seen more frequently, except for the cosmetic application of Botox such as migraine treatment, involuntary eye contraction, strabismus. These occur as a result of the spread of the drug outside the application site. Difficulty in swallowing, speaking and breathing, general weakness, drooping eyelids, blurred vision, double vision, urinary retention problems, deterioration and coarsening of the speech voice can be seen in rare cases. All these effects are temporary, although uncomfortable when they occur. Accelerating the excretion of the drug from the body shortens the healing process.
2- Among the common side effects, bruising at the injection site, pain at the injection site, headache, neck pain may occur, and they pass in a short time.
It should be emphasized that knowledge of facial anatomy is very important in order not to encounter undesirable situations, but it is an application that is legally allowed to be done by Botox specialists.
