Oropharyngeal candidiasis
Candida is a fungus found in our skin flora. Some factors that disrupt the skin microbiome cause the overgrowth of these factors, resulting in fungal infections. One of them is Oropharyngeal Candidiasis painting. Actually, under the title of Oropharyngeal Candidiasis table;

The most common causes; It causes infection due to factors such as insufficient immune system, diabetes, cortisone use, poor oral and dental hygiene, presence of dry mouth and antibiotic use.
It causes lesions in the form of white milk residue, especially on the buccal mucosa, tongue, soft palate and gingiva. When the white layer on it is scraped, redness and erosion occur in the tissue under it. As the clinical picture gets longer, it causes clefts on the back of the tongue and a deterioration in the structure of the tongue, which we call atrophy.
Itching, burning, pain and taste disturbance are the most common problems. In severe cases, difficulty in swallowing and pain in swallowing can be added due to the involvement of the esophagus.
Diagnosis: clinical examination and microscopic examination of the material taken. Esophageal involvement usually occurs with endoscopic confirmation.
Treatment;
1- Elimination or stabilization of the factors that cause candidiasis (such as blood sugar regulation in diabetic patients)
2- paying attention to dental health and oral hygiene, brushing the tongue with a soft brush
3-the use of antiseptic mouthwashes suitable for the mouth
4- topical and systemic antifungal mouthwash or pills to be given by the specialist depending on the clinical severity
