Botox application has always remained the most popular among all applications, as it takes place in a very short time and gives a rested look and glow to our face, without leaving social life after the application. It is an easy and reliable method applied to lighten or eliminate mimic lines that become more evident with age.
WHAT IS BOTOX?
It is a protein secreted by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. This substance temporarily reduces or destroys the function of the muscle in the applied area by blocking the electrical transmission from the nerves to the muscles. When the muscle loses its function and cannot contract, the wrinkles on the skin also decrease or disappear. Botulinum toxin is not a snake venom as many people think. It is made by diluting in very small doses. Therefore, it has no negative effects on our health. There are 2 botulinum toxins used in our country: Dysport (IPSEN), Botox (ALLERGAN).
WHERE IS BOTOX APPLIED?
Lines between the eyebrows
Forehead lines
Lines called crow’s feet around the eyes
Lifting the tip of the nose,
Vertical lines on the upper and lower lips (Smoking lines)
Lifting the corners of the lips up,
To make the skin on the chin smoother
It is applied in the treatment of horizontal lines and vertical bands on the neck.
HOW IS IT APPLIED?
With very fine-tipped insulin injectors, intramuscular administration is made from certain points. The application time is 10-15 minutes.
WHEN DOES EFFECT START?
The effects start after an average of 2 days after the application, and the real net effect appears on the 15th day. The duration of effect is usually 4-6 months.
WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE APPLICATION?
Whether people have a muscle disease or not
Whether or not to use blood thinners
Pregnancy and breastfeeding status should be questioned.
BOTOX FOR THE TREATMENT OF HYPERHYDROSIS (Sweating)
It is frequently used for armpit, hand and foot sweating. Here, the application is made under the skin, not intramuscularly. It prevents the production of sweat by temporarily blocking the operation of the nerves reaching the sweat glands. The effects after application begin within 1-2 days and last for 6-8 months.
WHAT NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED AFTER THE APPLICATION?
After the application, facial muscles should be worked for a few hours, that is, mimic movements should be made. Thus, it is easier for the drug to spread into the muscle.
For the first 24 hours after the application, drugs such as painkillers (anti-inflammatory), muscle relaxants, antidepressants and alcohol should not be taken.
You should not lie on your back or face for a few hours after the application. Otherwise, the drug may spread to different muscle groups and cause undesirable effects.
Make-up should not be applied for 4-5 hours after the application.
After the application, the application areas should not be touched or massaged for 6-8 hours.
Hot shower should not be taken for 4-5 hours after Botox application.
Exercise should not be done for 24 hours after Botox application.
Small blisters and redness that occur after the application disappear on their own within a few hours, they should never be touched.
BOTOX APPLICATION MUST BE DONE BY A TRAINED SPECIALIST.
Unfortunately, there is a false belief among the public that Botox application will worsen the skin if it is not repeated. On the contrary, since the mimic muscles are not active after the application, the wrinkles gradually decrease and may disappear completely with the application at regular intervals.
