There are basically 2 surgical philosophies in nose surgeries. The first is camouflage surgery. In camouflage surgery, shaping is done on the bones and cartilages of the nose with less play and less damage to the muscles and ligaments.
Generally, camouflage surgery is CLOSED nose surgery. Closed rhinoplasty is mostly used in rhinoplasty, which is the first rhinoplasty and requires minor manipulations.
CLOSED (SEARLESS) rhinoplasty
By making incisions in the nose and shaping the nose, the structures that cause shortness of breath in the nose can also be corrected.
OPEN NOSE AESTHETIC
It is a technique in which the nasal bones and cartilages are shaped with incisions from the lower part of the nose tip.
Preparation for Operation Time
-
Medications are discontinued one week before surgery. (Do not stop the medication you use continuously without consulting your doctor)
-
It is recommended not to use cigarettes for a while before and after the surgery.
-
There is no harm in women having menstruation and surgery on that date.
-
On the day of the operation, do not put on make-up, do not use hair gel, wear comfortable clothes, leave your jewelry at home.
-
Nothing should be eaten or drunk 6 hours before the surgery.
-
You should be in the hospital about an hour before the operation.
Surgery Technique
The structures that shape the nose (cartilage, bone and soft tissue) are reshaped. While shaping these structures, the priority is the functional structure of the nose, that is, to make a beautiful nose where patients can breathe comfortably. During the operation, the nose is treated gently and the low nasal tip, excessive height, lip and nasal tip angle, protruding or missing area on the nasal ridge, curvature of the nose, nasal tip, nostrils are corrected and an aesthetic appearance is provided.
Structures in the nose that may cause difficulty in breathing (septum curvature and nasal concha size) are intervened and corrected at the same time during surgery.
Recovery Time
It is important for the swelling to go down quickly and symmetrically by keeping your head elevated and facing the ceiling while lying down for at least 10 days after the operation.
For small blood leaks from the nose after the surgery, the tampons at the tip of the nose are removed (the next day) when they are reduced.
2 days after the operation, you can wash your hair at home like you would wash your head at the hairdresser.
You are given two different nasal sprays to spray into the nostrils (one used for about 1 week and the other for 4 weeks).
2 days after the operation is the period when swelling and edema are at the highest (depending on the structure of the person and the technique applied) and then it resolves quickly.
On the 5th postoperative day, the plastic splint and bands on the nose are removed, and your nose is taped with a skin-colored tape for one more week to try to accelerate the regression of edema.
About 2 days after the operation, you can return to your work without touching the splint on your nose and if you protect your nose from trauma, depending on the work you do.
It is normal to have some numbness at the tip of the nose. This situation will decrease and completely improve within 2-3 months.
Depending on your nose structure, you will be shown how to do a nose massage if necessary.
After the operation, heavy-rimmed glasses can be worn 3 months later, light-framed glasses can be worn 1 month later, while lenses can be worn 3 days later. glasses can be worn.
If the curvature of the septum and the size of the nasal flesh have been interfered with so that you can breathe more comfortably, nasal congestion may occur after the operation, this will pass in about 2 months if you use the sprays that will be given to you properly.
After 2 weeks, you can start light-paced exercises that do not tire you, and after six weeks you can start swimming.
The nose takes its final shape around 6 months-1 year.
