Endodontic root canal treatment

WHAT IS CANAL TREATMENT?

It is a treatment method applied in cases where the nerve (pulp) in the inner part of the tooth is damaged or dies due to caries or trauma.

In the natural structure of the tooth, there are channels where the dental nerves are located. Root canal treatment is the name given to the process of removing infected nerves in these canals and filling the canals with tissue-friendly canal fillers by disinfecting them.

WHAT CAUSES CANAL TREATMENT?

A blow to the tooth or jaw,

Physical irritation caused by deep caries,

Bacteria in advanced caries continue to multiply in the pulp of the tooth and cause pain and pressure. Sometimes this is accompanied by facial swelling. In some cases, the pain is less felt, but the abscess at the root end progresses and causes destruction in the bone surrounding the tooth.

A molar tooth with an inflamed root end and swollen gingiva due to caries

advanced gum diseases,

Filling and prosthetic structures made high, the closing is not fully adjusted,

Improper orthodontic treatments.

HOW IS THE TREATMENT DONE?

With local anesthesia to be performed first, you will not feel any pain during the entire procedure.

Then, the nerve tissue in the roots of the tooth is removed and the root canals are cleaned and shaped.

Finally, the root canals are filled with tissue-friendly canal filling materials, and a temporary material is placed on top to protect the tooth until permanent filling is made.
